FAQs

What happens during a free homeopathy consultation for POTS?

This is a call for us to determine if we are the right fit for each other as a practitioner and a patient. Our discussion can also help me understand if you need a shorter or longer consultation. I am always happy to refer to another homeopathic practitioner, physician, or Naturopath if they are a better fit for the patient based on the patient’s needs.

How should I prepare for my POTS homeopathy consultation?

To prepare for the chronic and POTS consultation, please complete the intake form sent in the confirmation email. This will help me to understand what is most important to you before our meeting. Please also bring all prescription medications, supplements, and herbal remedies you are currently taking.

How often do I need homeopathy follow-up appointments for chronic conditions?

After the first consultation, the first 2-3 follow-ups are monthly and are then typically spaced out every 2-4 months once the selected remedy is working as expected.

When should I update my homeopath about my POTS treatment progress?

Please send an update via email within 2-3 days of taking the remedy, so that we can determine if it is the right potency, timing, and a good remedy selection. After the first consultation, I like to hear from the patient weekly until their first follow-up and then at least 1 time between the subsequent follow-ups or otherwise instructed.

Do you treat children and teens with POTS using homeopathy?

I will see children 12 and older if they are suffering from a chronic condition such as POTS. The parent/guardian must be present for the intake until the age of medical consent (depending on the state or country, ~16 years old) and with the parent/guardian’s approval.

What’s the proper way to take homeopathic remedies for POTS?

Homeopathic remedies are either taken as a water dose or a dry dose, depending on the individual, the homeopathic practitioner’s preferences, and often it is determined by the patient’s sensitivity level and convenience factors.

Dry dose: Shake the bottle 5-10 times. Then take 1 pellet under the tongue and let it dissolve sublingually. Do not brush your teeth, take supplements/medications, or take any beverages besides filtered water at least 10-15 minutes before and after taking the remedy.

Water dose: shake the prepared water dose 5-10 times and take 5 drops under the tongue and let dissolve sublingually. Do not brush your teeth, take supplements/medications, or take any beverages besides filtered water at least 10-15 minutes before and after taking the remedy.

What’s the best time of day to take homeopathic remedies?

Some remedies are better to take in the morning/early afternoon, and some are better to take before bed. The instructions for the time of day will be given to you when the remedy is prescribed. For example, suppose a patient has extreme fatigue, and the remedy helps the body elicit a response to increase the energy. In that case, this is a remedy that we would not want to take before bed, which could cause insomnia. On the other hand, if the patient has insomnia and the remedy helps the body to fall asleep, then this is a remedy we would typically not want to take in the morning.

What should I do if I have an adverse reaction to my homeopathic remedy?

Stop the remedy immediately and notify me via email if you experience any aggravation or adverse reaction to the remedy. From here, we can determine if the remedy should be stopped altogether or if it is a sign that we are on track with the correct remedy.

What should I avoid while taking homeopathic remedies for POTS?

Limit alcohol use and, if possible, recreational drug use (unless you are currently going through an addiction). Limit the use of Essential Oils and strong perfumes on the body around the time you are taking the remedy. Do not take Essential Oils internally. Coffee is ok as long as it is reasonable (8-16 ounces a day) and you do not have any adverse reactions to coffee or tea.

Can I take homeopathy while sick with an acute illness?

If you get sick, stop the chronic remedy. Start the remedy again once the acute condition has resolved. You can self-prescribe for acutes. I am always happy to help my current patients with selecting an acute remedy or to guide them to the resources to help them decide on the best remedy.

How does homeopathy work differently from conventional medicine for POTS?

Homeopathy is based on looking at the full symptom picture, both physically and mentally, and is not prescribed based on a certain condition, as is typically done in allopathic medicine.

How long does homeopathic treatment take to work for POTS and chronic conditions?

This will depend on several factors. First the patient needs to be able to give me as much detailed information as possible about their symptoms and to be very observant on how they perceived their symptoms - is the symptom better in the morning vs night, better or worse in heat or cold, when did the symptom first start and what may have been any stressors going on in their life. Second, the patient needs to report any improvement or worsening of symptoms once a remedy is prescribed. The more information I can obtain from the patient, the greater the chance that I will be able to find a well-selected remedy. Once we find the best remedy, it can start working immediately or within a few days to a few weeks to help the body understand how to start the healing response.

Can homeopathy cure my POTS or chronic condition?

Homeopathy does not cure a patient, but it helps the body understand how to elicit a healing response if the best selected remedy is prescribed. Patients often start seeing a positive response to homeopathy within the first days to a few weeks if the correct remedy is selected. Chronic conditions can take months to years to show significant improvement.

Do you perform lab tests for POTS patients?

No, I do not perform labs; these will need to be obtained from a Primary Care Physician or Naturopath licensed in your state or country. I am happy to review any labs you would like to share for a benchmark on your progress, but I am not a trained professional in reading labs.

Why do you recommend supplements alongside homeopathy for POTS?

I recommend certain supplements to round out any potential nutritional deficiencies. For example, live in a climate above the 37th parallel. It can be very difficult to get enough Vitamin D from the sun in the winter, especially if you are fully covered when outside and spending most of your time indoors. In this case, I recommend Vitamin D3 until summer. Another supplement I often recommend is Magnesium (form depends on the patient’s needs), as most people are not eating enough organic green, leafy vegetables at each meal to fulfill the body’s requirement.
